Oh, thank you, Ultra! That is a real compliment, because if I didn't capture the "feeling", I'd feel like I'd failed! I'm so happy it comes through!! :)

The intensity of this drawing is spellbinding. That heavy brow when he is so focused is captured perfectly. But who can go past those Hutch lips - luscious even in repose.
Beautiful DG.

Thank you so much, k2b! Oh, I LOVE Hutch's heavy brow, and I really liked the way it looked in this lighting. You know, these guys are adult men, and often, the lighting tends to make them look younger, or flawless, but I really like to capture the moments when the light is maybe a little less flattering, but more honest. I love the little lines, and divots, and imperfections. They feel more real to me then! :)

Totally agree - because Hutch was often captured in that perfect light that made him radiant and almost ethereally beautiful, he ran the risk of being forever the "pretty boy". That is why I liked him so much in Series 4 - all man and more hardened and real. Though of course - I also adored the gentleness and pureness of him in the first two series.

And have you ever noticed that in the episodes that DS directed, he does not put himself in the most flattering lighting or positions? When PMG directed, he put DS in much "prettier" captures. PMG never seemed to be in the radiant lighting, but his features are softer and probably don't shadow as heavily.

Bloodbath is such a perfect example of PMG showcasing the natural beauty of DS...and bringing out the "White Knight" in Hutch. How much of that was down to PMG just wanting to capture the beauty of DS on film , above and beyond his efforts to dramatise Hutch?

Oh, DG, this is so beautiful, so perfect, so moving. The brow and the eye are so intense and you can feel it. I love it!
You really have such an amazing talent capturing Hutch. You really honor him with your work.

Wow, taass, what a wonderful compliment for you to give me. Hutch does come so much easier for me, and I'm not sure why. I can "feel" him better, I think. If that makes sense...

Thank you so much! And yes, I see your icon... ;-)

Thank you very much! I don't know anything about art technique, either. :) I draw what I see. The deep shadows and darkness engulfing him is why I loved this shot so much. I knew it would be perfect for charcoal.

What a special piece, Duluthgirl! It is hypnotic, with the brush of light across his neck and the hollowing shadows across his face. It epitomizes the mood of this scene in Survival, and you always capture his spirit and emotions so very well. Hutch can be such a chameleon in his appearance, yet that furrow between his eyebrows and the shape of his eyes are unique to him, always recognizable. Your art is simply delicious.

Thank you, Angel! He really is a chameleon, yet as I draw him more, I start to recognize static features, and I love them all.

And I thought of you when I drew this, because I knew this shot was like your icon. :)

Thank you! :) That is the ultimate compliment to me! I do think it makes sense, and that is why I love to draw. Not only do I strive for realism, but for the drawing to exude some sort of life is my goal in the end!
